Before showing the slides, ask pupils if they can think of examples of ‘stuff’ which don’t have a large impact on people and planet. With each picture, allow them to guess what the items are, and what makes them examples of low impact design.
The conclusions the pupils should draw, are that reducing the amount of stuff that we buy in the first place will have the greatest positive benefit. Secondly to consider whether things can be repaired or re-used. If they do need to buy new ‘stuff’ then, spending more money on well made items that are long lasting and have been made in conditions that are kind to people and planet is a good option.
